UK makes top 5 AV ready countries

The United Kingdom has been ranked fourth in the world for automated vehicle (AV) readiness, according to research from Confused.com.

The UK received a 6.92 out of 10 ready score.

The British comparison website took into account factors including legislation, technology, consumer interest, and infrastructure when drawing up the global list.

The US came first – 8.62/10 - Japan second – 7.59/10 and France third – 7.37/10 – while Germany was in fifth place with a score of 6.74/10

The UK was one of the best scoring countries when it comes to the number of AV companies headquartered in the country.

Confused.com also noted that Britain is currently working on legislation to allow self-driving cars to operate at up to 37 mph on motorways.
