Microsoft 'in talks' to buy Discord for over $10bn

Microsoft is reportedly in talks to purchase instant messaging platform Discord for more than $10 billion.

A report by Bloomberg News revealed that the platform has approached potential buyers, including Microsoft, with sources suggesting the company is more likely to go public than sell.

But online news platform VentureBeat said that, according to a source, the company had signed an “exclusive acquisition discussion with one party.”

The news comes after the messaging platform raised $140 million in December.

The company is valued at around $7 billion.

Last month it was reported that Microsoft had recently approached Pinterest about a potential takeover of the $51 billion social media company. [Link to story]
