UK to strengthen tech and research ties with India

The UK government has said it will strengthen technology and research ties with India, building on an agreement launched in 2021.

The government explained that the new proposal will enable “deeper collaboration” on science between the two countries on issues such as climate change, AI and machine learning.

Lord Tariq Ahmad, the UK’s minister of state for the Middle East and South Asia, is visiting India to launch the agreement as well as touring research facilities in Jodhpur, New Delhi and Hyderabad.

He will also announce the UK-India Health-Tech Bootcamp winners, aimed at encouraging collaboration between the health and start-up communities in both countries.

Commenting on the news Lord Ahmad said: “The UK and India are trusted partners united by the unique living bridge that closely connects our countries and people.”

He added: “Building on the 2030 Roadmap for India-UK future relations, we are deepening our collaboration on science and technology, bringing new innovations to both our nations.”
