The Magnum Ice Cream Company is planning a major roll-out of AI-driven and autonomous vending machines in the coming months to strengthen its partnerships and facilitate distribution.
As part of a partnership with Reckon.AI, the ice cream business is now actively looking for partners for the distribution and operation of these AI powered autonomous freezers.
The new freezers are intended to replace conventional refrigerators to boost intelligent, AI-controlled sales systems that enable unattended shopping experiences.
Their AI sensors combine computer vision and weight sensors to recognise which items have been removed and enable automatic checkout without scanning.
In addition, the system includes advanced theft prevention technology, as well as real-time stock and customer behaviour insights.
Earlier this month, Unilever decided to spin off its entire ice cream division, which includes Magnum, Ben & Jerry’s, Wall’s and Cornetto officially becoming The Magnum Ice Cream Company.
The company now operates independently with listings in Amsterdam, London and New York.
The demerger is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2025.
Ana Pinto, chief executive at Reckon.AI said in a LinkedIn post: “The future of unattended retail, is here, and you can be part of it!
“Whether you're already in vending, foodservice, or retail ops - or you're looking to expand into a scalable, tech-driven business this is your opportunity to grow with a global brand.”
