Toyota ‘suspends’ factory operations after cyber-attack

Toyota is "suspending" Japanese factory operations following a suspected cyber-attack against one of its suppliers.

A report by Reuters suggested the move will mean the company loses roughly 13,000 cars of output.

The news agency said that no information about who was responsible for the attack has been revealed.

But the prime minister of Japan said that the government would carry out an investigation to see whether Russia had been responsible for the incident, according to the report.

"It is difficult to say whether this has anything to do with Russia before making thorough checks," he reportedly told journalists.

Kojima Industries Corp, the targeted supplier, told Reuters it seemed to have been the victim of some kind of cyber attack. While a spokesperson from Toyota described the incident as a "supply system failure".
