Microsoft launches AI services aimed at 5G telecom firms

Microsoft is launching a range of new AI-powered services to manage 5G telecom networks on its Azure Cloud Network.

Microsoft Azure Operator Nexus builds on services the technology company unveiled last year and aims to help providers “modernise and monetise” their network. Microsoft claims the AI and automation the service uses will lower ownership costs, improve security increase efficiency and resiliency.

In addition to this, Microsoft has launched Microsoft Azure Operator 5G Core, which enables operators to build, deploy and manage scalable mobile networks. Microsoft said this service will increase the amount of data operators will be able to handle as well as help them keep up with the evolving demands of 5G.

In a blog post, Jason Zander EVP, strategic missions and technologies at Microsoft, wrote: “We’re empowering operators to unlock the power of 5G by bringing cloud and edge closer together to modernise their networks so that they can streamline and optimise their business operations and deliver new services faster with greater reach and lower cost.”
