Meta Platforms has secured four additional clean energy agreements with Invenergy, the companies announced on Thursday.
Chicago based Invenergy develops, builds, owns, and operates large scale generation, transmission, and storage facilities for clean energy and other renewable sources across the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
Under the new agreements, Meta will receive an additional 791 megawatts (MW) of purchased solar and wind power. This will support Meta’s operations, data centre expansion, and clean energy objectives, the company stated.
The deal builds on a previous agreement between the two companies, which supplied Meta with 1,000 MW of energy from Invenergy. Combined, these projects bring their total partnership to 1,800 MW, including over 740 MW of new power generation in Ohio.
Meta confirmed that the electricity generated by these projects will feed into the local grid, while Meta will retain the associated clean energy credits from the new capacity.
Urvi Parekh, Meta’s head of global energy, highlighted the company’s focus on advancing its AI ambitions. "We’re grateful for Invenergy’s longstanding partnership, which helps us meet our energy needs while advancing our clean energy goals. We look forward to continued collaboration," she said.
Ted Romaine, Invenergy’s executive vice president of origination, emphasised that winning the AI race depends on reliable, cleaner, and affordable energy infrastructure. "We appreciate our ongoing relationship with Meta and anticipate future partnerships as we work to strengthen American energy independence and economic prosperity," he added.
According to its website Invenergy and its subsidiaries have developed more than 34,000 MW of projects, including natural gas production, solar and wind power, transmission infrastructure, and advanced energy storage initiatives.
