Google launches AI-powered smartphones

Google has launched two new smartphones that are powered by the company’s first-ever processor, a mobile system on a chip that uses the company’s artificial intelligence technology.

The tech giant said that the AI-driven system enables “entirely new capabilities” for its phones.

Google’s latest mobile devices, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, include improved speech recognition and language understanding models, as well as an advanced camera.

The company said that the camera experience is improved from the hardware to Pixel’s computational photography.

Google is pricing the Pixel 6 at $599, while the Pro model will sell for $899.

"The whole goal when we started was to reach this point," Rick Osterloh, Google's head of devices told the BBC. "Really, this is our original vision that we're finally able to get to after building a lot of capabilities both in technology and in product development capabilities.”
