AWS to launch genAI app builder

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched a preview for a new generative AI service that can develop app.

AWS App Studio uses natural language to create “enterprise-grade” applications without software development skills such as enterprise architects and data engineers.

AWS said that users can quickly build apps to help solve business problems and increase productivity. Users do not need technical expertise build these apps and the company claims that these apps are similar to those built by professional developers.

Users write a basic prompt describing the application they want and the App Studio will generate an outline to verify the user’s intent and then build an application with a multi-page UI, a data model, and business logic.

The resulting apps can be connected to internal data sources and third party services such as Salesforce using an API connector. Apps are free to build with the service and users must only pay for the time employees spend using the published applications, AWS said this could save companies around 80 per cent compared to other low-code offerings.

The service is available to preview in the Oregon region of North America.

AWS did not share if or when the service would be rolled out to other areas.
