AWS announces major investment in Singapore cloud infrastructure

Amazon Web Services (AWS) on Tuesday said that it would invest almost $9 billion over the next four years to expand its cloud computing infrastructure in Singapore.

The company plans to invest S$12 billion in the city-state, adding to the S$11.5 billion it has already invested in the Asia Pacific region. It plans to spend more than S$23 billion in APAC expansion by 2028.

In addition to expanding its infrastructure, the company has also announced a collaboration with the Singapore government and other stakeholders to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI.

Priscilla Chong, AWS country manager for Singapore, said: "AWS is doubling down on its cloud infrastructure investments in Singapore from 2024 to 2028 to support customer demand, and help reinforce Singapore’s status as an attractive regional innovation launchpad.”

Elsewhere in APAC, Amazon recently announced it would spend $5 billion and $6 billion on infrastructure in Thailand and Malaysia respectively.
