Portuguese bank launches educational game on Roblox

BPI, the Portuguese subsidiary of CaxiaBank group has launched a game on Roblox to teach young people about sustainability and finance.

AGE Planet Craft Tycoon gives each player a deserted planet which they are encouraged to develop sustainably via strategic investments in resources. Users can also visit a bank on the gaming platform where they can exchange and invest in resources for their plant.

BPI claims the features of the game simulate financial applications in a simplified way.

The game was developed in partnership with Simple Magic, a videogame studio based in Estonia, focused on designing and developing games on Roblox and the metaverse.

The launch of the game follows other projects by BPI to connect with its customers, including BPI VR, an immersive reality application it launched in 2022 to interact with its customers. Last month it also launched D-VERSE, a digital collectibles platform where digital property can be transacted in Euros, with custody provided by BPI.

"The game AGE Planet Craft Tycoon is the final component of a strategic learning path we are undertaking in the metaverse,” said Francisco Barbeira, BPI executive board member. “In the three dimensions we consider relevant, we already have initiatives underway, and the learning process has been very enriching. As of today, we can say that BPI has indeed a holistic presence in what we call the metaverse."
