OpenAI unveils new tools to speed up creation of AI voice assistants

OpenAI has unveiled a set of new tools designed to simplify the creation of applications based on its artificial intelligence technology, Reuters reported on Tuesday.

The start-up announced the development of a new real-time tool aimed at assisting developers in creating speech-based AI applications using a single set of instructions.

Previously, developers had to follow a three-step process: first transcribing the audio, then running the generated text through a model to get an answer, and finally using a separate text-to-speech model.

The company also introduced a model fine-tuning tool, which allows developers to enhance the responses generated by models using images and text.

This fine-tuning process can incorporate feedback from individuals who provide the model with examples of good and bad responses based on its answers.

The use of images to fine-tune models aims to improve image comprehension, enabling applications such as visual search and object detection for autonomous vehicles, OpenAI stated.

The Microsoft-backed start-up added that the tools are currently in the testing phase.

According to Reuters, the company expects revenues to rise to $11.6 billion next year, a significant increase from its estimated $3.7 billion in 2024.

The company is also in the midst of a $6.5 billion fundraising effort that could value it at $150 billion.

Earlier this month, Reuters reported that OpenAI’s $6.5 billion financing round will come in the form of convertible notes with the Chat-GPT maker having to remove a profit cap for investors to keep the firm’s value at its current $150 billion.
