Liberty Global has announced it is expanding and scaling its digital entertainment and connectivity platforms.
The move forms part of an extended partnership with Infosys, with the video, broadband and communications company announcing €1.5 billion deal with the digital services business over a five-year period.
The company said that if the contract is extended further to eight years, the deal will rise to $2.3 billion.
According to Liberty Global, new technology and systems from the digital services business will save it €100 million per year.
Additionally, Liberty Global is licensing its platform to Infosys so that Infosys can offer the platform to new operators and markets. Liberty Global will retail intellectual property for the platforms and control the product roadmap.
Around 400 Liberty Global employees with join Infosys under the new agreement. Senior executives and technology teams from Liberty Global will also join Infosys to “expand the firm’s engineering capabilities”.
The companies have worked together since February 2020. The extended partnership is subject to regulatory approval.
