Google launches new deal-finder tools

Google has created a new destination on Search where consumers can find discounts online.

The tech giant said that it has established a new dedicated deals page which organises millions of promotions from thousands of brands and retailers in one place.

The company has also announced a new feature that allows users to save products, track prices, and get price insights in Chrome and Search.

“On the deals page, you’ll find promotions and markdowns in top holiday categories, such as apparel, electronics, toys and beauty,” said Danielle Buckley, director of product, consumer shopping at Google. “They’ll include deals from a variety of merchants, including big-box stores, direct-to-consumer brands, luxury multi-brand retailers, designer labels and local stores.”

With the new tool, users can scroll through carousels of deals by category, which take into account what they usually like to shop for when they are signed into Google. They can also see popular stores that have deals on what they are looking for.

Chrome can now proactively look for discount codes;

When a new tab is opened on Chrome on desktop, it will show products consumers recently viewed on shopping sites in their 'Resume browsing' card and let them know if an active promotion is available.

Likewise, if a user visits a product page on a shopping site, they can click on the new discount tag icon in the address bar to see available coupon codes from the site they're visiting.

Google is also bringing its price insights features, already available on Search, to Chrome on desktop.

Additionally, when a looking at a product on Search from Chrome on a mobile device, users can now click the bell icon next to the product name to get email and push notifications if that product’s price drops from retailers across the web.
