Apple releases security patches for known vulnerabilities

Apple has released update patches for some of its devices after confirming there are security vulnerabilities in their operating system.

The security issues discovered and reported to Apple by anonymous sources, affect the tech giant’s tablets and handsets running iOS version 15.6.1.

The security updates are for iPhone 6s and later, iPad Pro (all models), iPad Air 2 and later, iPad 5th generation and later, iPad mini 4 and later, and iPod touch (7th generation).

The first issue affects the Kernel operating system.

Described as an out-of-bounds write issue, the security exploit may allow an application to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges.

Affecting the WebKit browser on the stated device models, this issue processes maliciously crafted web content and may lead to arbitrary code execution.

For both issues, Apple has said it is aware that they may have been actively exploited.
