Amazon to provide free AI skills training to 2 million people

Amazon has said it will provide free AI skills training to around two million people by 2025.

Under its AI Ready commitment, Amazon will launch eight courses on AI and generative AI which supplement around 80 free and low-cost courses provided through Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Amazon said it will also provide $12 million for the AWS Generative AI Scholarship to over 50,000 school and university students from underserved and underrepresented communities. Students will be able to take courses on the Udacity learning platform and will be awarded a certificate on completion.

The company added it is also collaborating with to help students learn about generative AI to allow them to create their own music videos.

According to research from AWS, there is a strong demand for people with AI skills and they can earn up to 47 per cent more. The company added that around 73 per cent of employers would like to hire people with AI skills, but three out of four employers cannot find the AI talent they need.

“Artificial intelligence is the most transformative technology of our generation,” Amazon said on its website. “If we are going to unlock the full potential of AI to tackle the world’s most challenging problems, we need to make AI education accessible to anyone with a desire to learn.”
