Zoom renames chat platform

Communications platform Zoom is renaming Zoom Chat as Zoom Team Chat.

The company said it had made the decision to “usher in the future of persistent messaging and further enhance teamwork and collaboration”.

Elaborating further, Zoom stated that chat is the backbone of collaboration in today’s hybrid and flexible work environments.

It’s where teams track projects, build culture, and instantly and asynchronously collaborate, and it’s where teams begin and end their workdays, Zoom said.

It added: “Modern chat technology helps dispersed teams consolidate workflows and gain efficiencies and enables people to work better together.

“With one-touch access to video meetings, phone, whiteboarding, and more, Zoom Team Chat brings people together in modern ways.”

It concluded by stating that the new name of Zoom Team Chat better reflects these values.
