UK robotics firm enters Spanish market following €1.4m financing deal

Expert Technologies Group has won its first multimillion-pound contract in Spain following a €1.4 million financing deal.

The Coventry-based firm designs and manufactures robotic assembly systems, tools and special machinery which supports automation in industry.

The company said it will start work on a new project with the Spanish arm of Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze (SEBN), which is a global supplier of parts for the automotive industry.

The companies will work on two new automated auxiliary harness assembly lines for electric vehicles.

Expert Group said it had support from UK Export Finance (UKEF) to access €1.4 million in working capital from NatWest to win the contract.

Around ten jobs are supported through the capital injection.

“The support we received from UK Export Finance has allowed us to successfully be awarded the project with SEBN, who are a new customer to ourselves; we look forward to developing the relationship further,” said Angelo Luciano, chief executive of Expert Technologies. “This is the first project we have been awarded in Spain since both Brexit and COVID, and we hope that is a catalyst for further projects in mainland Europe.”
