Tech organisations partner to launch digital jobs platform

The Institute of Coding, British Computer Society (BCS), The Chartered Institute for IT, and TheTalentPeople have partnered to create a new platform to help people pursue careers in technology.

The GetMyFirstDigitalJob platform supports learners on the Institute of Coding’s Click Start programmes in finding employment.

Users of the platform will receive individual support when applying for jobs and have access to an extensive network of employers.

A candidate marketplace will help users find careers in technology and contribute to hiring a more diverse workforce into entry-level roles.

Research from the Institute of Coding found that only half of the UK population has confidence in their digital skills, and over a quarter believe they need a degree to have a digital-led career.

Around 60 per cent of the UK’s workforce lacks the required skills for the modern-day workplace, and the Institute estimates the digital skills gap costs the government around £63 billion per year.

The partnership aims to close this gap by providing the resources needed to enable people to gain new skills.

“The Institute of Coding is committed to ensuring that as many people as possible have the skills needed to thrive in their careers,” said Rachid Hourizi, Director of the Institute of Coding. “Our work helps industry to plug the ongoing digital skills gap by easing the process of recruitment for employers and candidates. Through this collaboration, our learners will have access to some of the biggest employers in the country.”
