Nearly half of parents worry kids spend too much time gaming

45 per cent of UK parents are concerned about children spending too much time on games, according to figures from digital board game publisher Marmalade Game Studio.

The research, surveyed over 1,000 adults in the UK, found that concerns about them playing violent games, the potential effect on sleep, and the impact on them seeing friends and being sociable were less of a worry.

35 per cent of parents were worried about the impact on sleep, while a further 34 per cent were concerned their kids aren’t seeing friends enough.

30 per cent were worried about the violence of video games.

“Parents are understandably worried about children spending too much time playing online games given that children can play in their bedrooms and if they have smartphones, it is very easy to access games,” said Cristina Mereuta, co-chief executive, Marmalade Game Studio.
