Gov launches data quality framework

The government announced the launch of a new framework for data quality management.

The framework, which has been developed in collaboration with the Government Digital Service, contains principles and approaches that can support better management of data quality in organisations.

The government has designed the framework to help people establish better data quality management through evidence-based, proactive assessments and effective, targeted improvements.

It will work alongside other government initiatives, including the Data Standards Authority, to improve the way government stores, manages, and processes its data.

The government is asking organisations to commit to data quality, know their users and their users needs, assess quality throughout the data lifecycle, communicate data quality clearly and effectively, and anticipate changes affecting data quality.

The framework is expected to grow over the next two years and the government is currently working on training and guidance to support data practitioners in embedding the framework into their organisations.
