Google rolls out Duet AI for Workspace apps

Google has made its AI-based assistant for content creation and meetings available across its suite of Google Workspace apps.

Since its launch May, Google said thousands of companies and more than a million testers have used Duet AI, which can be used to take meeting notes and develop images and text for documents.

The technology will span various Google applications, including conferencing app Google Meet, where it aims to help users “look and sound their best” with the addition of ‘studio look’, ‘studio lighting’, and ‘studio sound’.

Google Meets is also having a tiles and face detection feature implemented, which gives attendees in a meeting room their own video tile with their name.

With the Duet AI integration, automatic translated captions for 18 languages are also now in place on Meets, said Google.

Additionally, Duet AI has now been rolled out on Google Chat, with features including a refreshed user interface, new shortcuts, and enhanced search aimed at helping users to stay on top of their chats.

Users can also chat directly with Duet AI to ask questions about their content, get a summary of documents shared in a space, and catch up on missed conversations.

Google recently introduced a set of new AI tools to increase security on Google Workspace as cybersecurity attacks continue to increase.

The new features include zero-trust, digital sovereignty and threat defence controls to improve the safety of data on its platform.
