Google launches AI tools for advertising

Google parent company Alphabet has launched two artificial intelligence (AI) powered tools for brands which it says will automatically find the best place to their adverts.

The first tool, called Demand Gen, will insert an advertiser’s image and video promotions across a range of media including Gmail and YouTube. Alphabet said its research had shown that 91 per cent of customers took action immediately after discovering new products on Google services.

The second tool, Video View, enables brands to maximise views in videos and YouTube Shorts. Alphabet claims that advertising campaigns using Video Views have an average of 40 per cent more views compared to in-stream skippable cost-per-view campaigns.

Writing about the launch in a blog post Vidhya Srinivasan, Google vice president and general manager of advertising, said that early testers had seen positive results.

“Marketers today are being asked to do more with less. Multiple macro challenges — from inflation pressures to supply chain constraints — are forcing tougher decisions for every business and marketing decision-maker,” he wrote.

“These new AI-driven solutions allow you to measure the incremental impact of your campaigns with brand lift, search lift and data driven attribution, helping you to make smarter decisions more effectively.”

Last month, Google introduced Product Studio, a new tool for businesses to create and enhance images using generative AI. The service is part of Merchant Center, a platform designed to help businesses manage how their products show up on Google.
