Carbon platform Sylvera announces $57m fundraise

Carbon intelligence platform Sylvera has announced the completion of a $57 million Series B funding round.

The company, which launched in the UK in 2020 with the aim to help companies meet net zero goals and invest in carbon markets, said the funding would help it scale its teams and product offerings and support its expansion into the US.

It added that the funds would help it to “double down on its technology leadership” to produce the most robust possible data to support investment in climate action in a time where it has become increasingly apparent that there’s a serious lack of data to demonstrate progress against net zero targets and prove that carbon emissions are actually being reduced and past emissions removed.

The funding round was joined by new investors including Balderton Capital and Bain & Company, and featured participation from existing investors including Salesforce and Seedglobe.

"There is an urgent need to provide the most accurate and transparent views on the multitude of carbon projects around the world in order for corporations, governments and markets to trust in the carbon credits they are buying and effectively scale their climate contributions and head towards net zero,” said Balderton Capital partner Daniel Waterhouse.
