Apple issues 3-day return to office order

Apple has told its employees they must return to the office for at least three days per week, according to a memo seen by the Financial Times.

Tim Cook, Apple’s chief executive, said that all employees at the company’s headquarters and nearby offices would be required to come in on Tuesday and Thursday, as well as one other day to be determined by team managers, starting on 5 September.

Apple employees around the world will return on a different timetable according to local circumstances, the memo said.

According to the Financial Times, the memo read in part: “We are excited to move forward with the pilot and believe that this revised framework will enhance our ability to work flexibly, while preserving the in-person collaboration that is so essential to our culture.”

The reported memo is not the first time Apple has announced a return-to-office order. In June 2021, Apple said it planned a three-day-a-week return in September of that year, only to pull the plug on the decision due to rising Covid-19 cases.
