Apple could ‘face EU antitrust charge’ over Spotify complaint

Apple could face an EU antitrust charge because of claims by Spotify that it unfairly pushed its own streaming service, Reuters has reported.

According to two of the news agency’s sources, the European Commission could send the statement of objections that outline alleged violations of the EU’s antitrust rules to the tech giant before the summer.

The EU competition has another three cases opened against Apple from June last year.

The EU charge sheet usually shows whether a fine is necessary, as well as what companies have to do to halt anti-competitive practices, Reuters said.
