1 in 3 UK investors 'want to invest' in crypto

Almost one in three UK investors – 31 per cent – want to invest in cryptocurrency, according to a report commissioned by crypto exchange Bitstamp.

While the report showed that the interest in investing in crypto is there, 55 per cent of respondents cited a lack of knowledge as a key barrier towards making an investment.

Other reported barriers to investing included being unsure which platform to trust or is secure at 40 per cent, and the belief that the risk was too high at 36 per cent.

In Bitstamp’s survey, 45 per cent of respondents also reported that they would feel comfortable paying for everyday items like groceries using crypto, while 40 per cent of respondents reported having made an investment in the crypto market

Responding to the survey results, Jean-Baptiste Graftieaux, global chief executive of Bitstamp, said: “Despite recent market challenges, the latest Crypto Pulse survey shows that investors in the UK still want to know more about crypto.”

He added: “It is therefore essential for companies to take the lead in providing credible, well-researched education content to empower the everyday investor, so they can make the best decision for their money in the market.”
