Vodafone Germany to cut 4,000 staff

UK telco Vodafone on Tuesday said that its German business would cut 2,000 jobs as part of efforts to save around €400 million over the next two years.

The company had previously announced a cost-cutting in programme in 2023 which will ultimately lead to 11,000 full-time roles being eliminated.

In a statement, the company said that “personnel costs will be reduced through savings and the relocation of around 2,000 jobs – also because manual tasks will be performed by increased automation in future.”

Significant savings will be drawn from eliminating and updating outdated IT structures, while the company will double down on investments in high-growth areas including the cloud and its corporate client business.
