Vodafone agrees to buy German cloud specialist Skaylink for €175m

Vodafone Group has agreed to acquire Skaylink, a German cloud, digital transformation and security firm, for €175 million, strengthening the telecoms company’s enterprise services portfolio across Europe.

The transaction is expected to close by the end of March 2026, subject to regulatory approvals, according to statements from the companies.

Skaylink employs more than 500 staff across Germany and other European markets. It specialises in managing cloud deployments and migrations across Microsoft and Amazon Web Services environments, and in building artificial intelligence solutions for corporate clients.

Vodafone said Skaylink’s “customer-centric business model, capabilities and market presence will provide Vodafone’s business and public sector customers with access to an enhanced suite of digital services and support,” noting the deal aligns with its growth priorities in security, managed services and cloud.

The acquisition comes as telecoms groups look to deepen relationships with business customers by offering managed cloud, cybersecurity and data services, areas that have been expanding alongside the broader shift of enterprise workloads into public cloud platforms.

Reuters reported the consideration at €175 million, equivalent to $204.09 million at the time of announcement, with Skaylink being purchased primarily from private equity firm Waterland. The news agency added that “the deal is expected to close by the end of March 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.”

Vodafone positions itself as a leading European and African telecoms operator serving over 355 million mobile and broadband customers. It operates networks in 15 countries, has investments in five more and partners in over 40, runs one of the world’s largest internet of things platforms with more than 215 million connections, and provides financial services to around 92 million customers across seven African nations. In its announcement, the company said: “From the seabed to the stars, Vodafone’s purpose is to keep everyone connected.”

The transaction highlights ongoing consolidation within Europe’s cloud and managed services market as network operators seek scale and expertise to compete with specialist providers and global platforms.
