Unlikely AI concludes $20m seed round

Unlikely AI has announced the completion of a $20 million seed round.

The company has so far developed a proof-of-concept in which their AI, named Ross, has been shown to "solve and explain even the most difficult cryptic crossword clues".

The company was founded by William Tunstall-Pedoe, who is best known for his role in the development of Amazon Alexa.

Unlikely AI has said it will use the funding to boost the development of its ambitious, fresh approach to artificial intelligence (AI) and expand its team.

Amadeus Capital Partners and Octopus Ventures co-led the seed round, which also included participation by Cambridge Innovation Capital, and Skype founder Jaan Tallinn’s Metaplanet.

Commenting on the announcement, Tunstall-Pedoe said: “The entire team is very excited about the opportunity that this financing has given us to develop Unlikely AI and its technology, and we are delighted to partner with our new investors.”
