UK education tech start-up Atom Learning raises $25m

London education technology start-up Atom Learning has raised $25 million in a Series A funding round, according to a report by TechCrunch.

The report said the capital came from Japanese conglomerate SoftBank’s Vision Fund 2, which was launched in 2019.

Atom Learning will use the capital to grow in the UK market, expand internationally, and to build content for its users according to the report.

Atom Learning, founded in 2018 by Jake O’Keeffe and Alex Hatvany, claims it is used by over 500 schools.

The company, which now says it has over 90 employees, provides AI-based education materials aimed at parents, tutors, and teachers educating children aged 7 to 12.

Atom told TechCrunch that this sum is the largest-ever Series A funding round for a UK education technology start-up.
