Twitter ‘held talks’ to buy Clubhouse for $4bn

Twitter has held talks with Clubhouse in recent months about a potential buyout.

Sources said that the that the companies had discussed a valuation of around $4 billion, according to a report by Bloomberg.

Clubhouse is a new invite-only audio-chat platform launched in April last year.

The social media platforms are no longer in discussion about the deal. The sources said that they did not know why the talks had stopped.

The news comes days after the media site reported that Clubhouse was looking to raise a new round of funding worth roughly $4 billion.

Bloomberg said that the talks had already subsided prior to the funding search.
