Samsung announces AI services for smart screens

Electronics company Samsung has announced plans to add AI features to its smart screens and televisions.

Samsung Vision AI offers a range of personalised services, including translation in real time and the ability to display artwork. It also allows users to search for more information about things they see on screen.

Additionally, Samsung said that the technology will enable users to control other smart devices and detect and respond to pets and children, for example by dimming lights when a child falls asleep.

Samsung Vision AI also incorporates third-party AI platforms which Samsung said could potentially create even more personalised experiences.

The company said its new smart TVs and smart monitors will feature Microsoft’s Copilot, which will enable users to search for relevant information about on-screen content using a remote control or voice commands, and to explore a wide range of Copilot services, including personalised content recommendations, accessible through the screen.

“Samsung sees TVs not as one-directional devices for passive consumption but as interactive, intelligent partners that adapt to your needs,” said SW Yong, president and head of visual display business at Samsung Electronics. “With Samsung Vision AI, we’re reimagining what screens can do, connecting entertainment, personalisation, and lifestyle solutions into one seamless experience to simplify your life.”
