Private networks to boost ‘transformative tech’ for enterprise

techUK has released a new guide highlighting the benefits of the growth of the private network roll out in Britain.

The trade association said that further adoption will enable “new and transformative” technologies for enterprise.

The organisation claims that the growth of private 4G, 5G, and recent advances in Wi-Fi technology and satellite communications have “seen a raft of innovative testbeds and proof-of-concepts for enhanced private networks for enterprise and the public sector”.

According to research from PwC published last year, the adoption of 5G could boost the economy by £43 billion in the next eight years.

techUK also said that public services could benefit from the implementation of these networks.
“With the help of this techUK guide, prospective users of advanced private networks can gain a clear understanding of the full range of benefits of adopting communications technology, to help build their business case for investment,” said Sophie James, head of telecoms and spectrum policy, techUK. “techUK members from our Communications Infrastructure and Services Programme stand ready to help enterprise and the public sector to meet unique operational needs, and unlock the potential of digital transformation”.
