Microsoft Teams rolled out across Barclays' global workforce

Microsoft has announced that Barclays has rolled out its business communication platform across the bank's global workforce of more than 120,000 employees and service partners.

The Microsoft Teams is replacing several other platforms previously used across Barclays.

As part of the roll out, Microsoft improved the data retention, search and retrieval capabilities available within its data governance platform Microsoft Purview.

“Over the past two years, digital collaboration has become central to how work gets done,” said Rajesh Jha, Microsoft's executive vice president, experiences & devices, commenting on the partnership. "Barclays is leading the way for the financial services industry globally, by giving its employees modern communication and collaboration tools that enable them to connect without friction.”

The move comes after Microsoft's UK chief executive Clare Barclay said that British organisations need to “fight back” against economic headwinds by boosting digital skills and embracing digital-first methods for working.

“Modern technology is essential to enabling our employees to deliver the highest level of service to our customers in a way that is resilient and sustainable,” said Craig Bright, global chief information officer, Barclays. “Microsoft Teams gives us an end-to-end collaboration platform that helps us connect our colleagues and enhance our business capabilities.”
