Microsoft 'secretly approached Pinterest for potential takeover'

Microsoft has recently approached Pinterest about a potential takeover of the $51 billion social media company, according to reports.

But according to The Financial Times, which first broke the news, talks about an acquisition are not currently active.

Microsoft has an acquisition strategy aimed at creating a portfolio of online communities that could run on top of its Azure cloud computing platform, the newspaper said.

Pinterest is not the only digital platform that Microsoft has attempted to buy in recent years.

The company also tried to buy TikTok during the app’s ban in the US.

Microsoft has successfully taken over LinkedIn, GitHub, and ZeniMax in the past few years.
