Meta boss Zuckerberg set for South Korea visit

Meta chief exec Mark Zuckerberg is set to make a visit to South Korea which will include key meetings.

The company announced Zuckerberg’s impending visit on Wednesday without providing further detail.

Seoul Economic Daily, a local newspaper, reported earlier in the day that Zuckerberg is expected to meet Jay Y. Lee, the chairman of Samsung Electronics, during his visit to discuss AI, specifically topics surrounding processors and generative AI.

The paper also reported that Zuckerberg may also meet South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol. A presidential official subsequently confirmed that Zuckerberg had sought a meeting with Yoon, but did not provide further details.

Meta last week announced the appointment of Broadcom president and chief exec Hock Tan and John Arnold, co-founder and co-chair of Arnold Ventures, to its board of directors. Of the appointments, Zuckerberg said: "As we focus on building AGI, having directors with deep expertise in silicon and energy infrastructure will help us execute our long term vision."

Meta's board members also include Dropbox chief exec Drew Houston, Estée Lauder chief financial officer Tracey T. Travis and PayPal Holdings former executive vice president Peggy Alford, among other industry veterans
