Livestock data platform Breedr raises £12m

Livestock data platform Breedr has raised £12 million in a Series A funding round led by Investbridge Capital.

The Chichester-based company’s solutions enable farmers to record information about their animals on their smartphones, including weight, health, fertility, genetics, and medication regimen.

The company said the funding will be used to create new financial products and services and to expand into Australia and the US.

Breedr was founded in 2019 and claims that it has had over 4,000 signups and has over 160,000 animals on its database.

The latest round brings Breedr’s total funding to date to £17.5 million.

"Breedr's plans for the future are to continue to support livestock farmers to improve their productivity, market cattle and sheep at lower costs and get the cash they need to grow their business,” said Breddr chief executive and founder Ian Wheal. “We are now in a strong place with a great product that works in the US and International markets so are starting to roll this out, firstly with the livestock app in the coming months."
