Google Cloud makes four senior hires for EMEA expansion

Google Cloud has appointed four new regional leads to head up the growth of its enterprise cloud business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Pip White is set to lead Google Cloud’s sales strategy in the UK and Ireland as managing director, after nearly two decades at Salesforce, while Daniel Holz joins the company as vice president across Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Nordics, following a 12-year stint at SAP Germany.

In his new role, Holz will continue building the momentum of major partnerships with German companies such as Lufthansa Group and Deutsche Bank.

Another a former Salesforce employee, Samuel Bonamigo joins as vice president for the Southern Europe region, while Laurence Lafont becomes vice president of EMEA industries exclusive of France, after more than eight years at Microsoft in France, most recently as chief operations officer.

As part of the changes, long-term Google employee Benjamin Faes will continue as managing director for Central and Eastern Europe, Israel, the Middle East and Africa.

The new hires are part of the company’s efforts to scale up its EMEA organisation during a period of accelerated growth in demand for cloud services and mounting competition between cloud service giants including rivals Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.

Google said the changes to its senior leadership team will allow Google Cloud to scale and support EMEA businesses who want to accelerate their digital transformation.

Chris Ciauri, president of EMEA at Google Cloud, said: “Over the past year, we have seen strong customer momentum through a number of significant customer wins.

“Today, many leading brands in Europe, the Middle East and Africa are turning to us to help them digitally transform, streamline and reinvent their business models," he continued, adding: "Pip, Laurence, Daniel, and Samuel join us at a time of significant growth as we continue to evolve our business to further strengthen our go-to-market and front-line support for customers and partners across the region.”
