Game developer backs out of Facebook ad test

Resolution Games, the first VR games developer to agree to trial Facebook's ads, has backed out after receiving negative feedback from players.

This week Facebook said that it planned to test adverts in Oculus VR games, starting with shooter game Blaston, which was the only game listed to be involved with the trial.

But the company’s chief executive Tommy Palm told media outlets that it no longer planned to implement the test.

“After listening to player feedback, we realise that Blaston isn’t the best fit for this type of advertising test,” Blaston tweeted. “Therefore, we no longer plan to implement the test. We look forward to seeing you in the arena and hope you try the Crackdown Update that went live today!”

But the company said that while Blaston “isn’t the best fit for this type of advertising test,” as an alternative it is exploring whether it is feasible to move the test to its free game Bait!.
