Facebook is set to implement a range of new products and features for businesses, including new business messaging tools across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
The social media giant cited statistics which say that 75 per cent of adults globally want to communicate with businesses via messaging, in the same way they communicate with friends and family.
Businesses will now be able to choose all the messaging platforms where they’re available to chat, and Facebook will be the default the chat app in the business’s ad based on where a conversation is most likely to happen.
Businesses will also now be able to start a WhatsApp chat directly from an Instagram profile.
In addition, Facebook is set to begin testing features that will enable business to send emails through Facebook Business Suite, the social media giant’s service that lets businesses manage their presence on Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram.
Facebook also said it is testing work accounts, which will allow business users to log in and operate Business Manager without requiring a personal account.
Businesses will be able to manage these accounts on behalf of their employees and have access to features like single sign-on integrations, which Facebook said will give them more control over the security of their employees’ accounts.
The news come after Apple has introduced new tracking features which will allow iOS users to opt out of having their data tracked, which Facebook said in December 2020 would impact its ability to provide targeted advertising for small businesses.
Earlier this week, WhatsApp began trialling a new feature in São Paulo, Brazil that will enable users to search for businesses within the app.
