Deutsche Börse Group to roll out SocGen’s stablecoins across settlement business

Deutsche Börse Group and Societe Generale Group (SocGen) have inked a partnership to embed the French bank’s stablecoin into the German stock exchange’s settlement business.

CoinVertible is SocGen’s euro and dollar backed regulated stablecoin, designed for institutional investors.

Deutsche Börse Group provides infrastructure for trading, clearing, settlement, custody, and market data across global capital markets.

The integration of CoinVertible as a payment and settlement stablecoin aims to boost financial innovation in both groups, enhancing their digital strategies and complementing Deutsche Börse Group's services, the firms said.

The initial focus of the partnership is to strengthen CoinVertible's collateral management structure and its usability as a settlement tool for securities-related processes, collateral management and treasury functions at Clearstream, the post-trade division of Deutsche Börse Group.

This partnership also aims to improve CoinVertible's liquidity through a new listing on Deutsche Börse Group's digital trading platforms.

Further steps will include the possibility of integrating EUR and USD CoinVertible stablecoins into the entire Deutsche Börse Group service portfolio, expanding the use cases for robust stablecoins suitable for financial institutions and the cryptocurrency sector in general.

Stephanie Eckermann, member of Deutsche Börse Group’s executive board responsible for post-trading, emphasised the need for the financial sector of the future to embrace digitalisation.

“We continue to take decisive steps in embedding stablecoins in a regulated, reliable, and trusted infrastructure, enabling them to deliver their full value, and provide cutting-edge, innovative solutions for our clients,” she continued.

Alexandre Fleury, co-head of global banking and investment solutions at Société Générale Group, added that the move marks an important step in connecting traditional capital markets with the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

“Building on years of collaboration in market activities and corporate finance, we are now creating bridges that will deliver innovative products and services at scale within a robust, regulated framework,” he added.
