Deliveroo wins contract with SPAR

Deliveroo has signed a partnership deal with SPAR UK.

The tech business will cover all 2,160 SPAR stores across England, Scotland, and Wales.

“SPAR is a familiar and welcome sight in many local neighbourhoods and this partnership brings even more choice and convenience to people’s doorsteps,” said Carlo Mocci, chief business officer, UK&I, Deliveroo. “Deliveroo customers can choose from a huge range of groceries, food, little luxuries and daily essentials and SPAR is a welcome addition for households across the UK. ”

From this week 66 SPAR locations will offer deliveries from Deliveroo.

The retailer said that as the company will no longer just rely on footfall, the move will enable it to expand its customer base.

“During the years of the pandemic, SPAR stores around the UK extended their service to communities by providing a variety of e-commerce delivery and call & collect solutions to local consumers,” said SPAR UK strategy and operations director, Lee Johnson. “We are looking to accelerate this trend and cater to even more customers in the vicinity of SPAR stores by partnering with Deliveroo."

Johnson added: “Our partnership with Deliveroo will enable us to reach more customers, meet their ever-changing shopping habits and drive significant revenue uplift for stores. As our visibility on the Deliveroo platform grows, so will the opportunity for us to differentiate from our competitors.”
