Co-op renews partnership with payment technology provider

The Co-op has extended its partnership with payment technology firm ACI Worldwide.

Under the agreement, ACI Worldwide will continue to provide the UK convenience retailer with a full range of payment services including in store, online and mobile payment processing.

Additionally, ACI Worldwide will also provide end-to-end payments and fraud management solutions.

The Co-op, which operates around 2,400 stores across the UK, has worked with ACI Worldwide to launch several payment initiatives.

This includes the integration of point-to-point encryption and tokenisation technology to secure its payments data.

In 2024, Co-op successfully moved its full stack of payments and fraud prevention software into a multi-tenant cloud platform hosted in Microsoft Azure.

The company said the migration providing scalability, added security and enhanced data protection.

“Co-op is growing and investment in new technology supports our work to ensure an easy, quick and convenient shopping experience for shoppers,” said Paul Fletcher, head of payments, Co-op.
