British AI startup Prolific closes £25m funding round

Prolific, the British AI startup with the stated aim of transforming research by providing quick and easy access to verified and fairly paid participants, has concluded a £25 million fundraise.

Prolific’s platform matches AI developers with engaged and verified people to help improve and fine tune their AI applications.

The company says that its offering helps to address some of the common concerns associated with AI, including bias, copyright, and inaccuracies.

The round was co-led by tech investment firm Partech and Oxford Science Enterprises (OSE).

Prolific said new funding would help it to broaden its AI offering and establish a stronger presence in the US – currently home to more than half of its customer base including Google and Stanford University.

“AI represents one of the biggest leaps forward in technology in recent years and our unique approach to data sourcing from humans positions us to make these systems more accountable and less biased,” said Prolific chief executive and co-founder Phelim Bradley. “The funding we have secured will fuel our growth in the AI space, especially in the US, bolstering our commitment to human-guided AI development during this pivotal moment in the technology's progression.”
