BT launches new secure networking service

BT has launched a combined network and security service aimed at businesses looking to manage connectivity across multiple sites.

Expanding on an existing partnership with Fortinet, the secure networking service is aimed at UK corporate and public sector customers.

The telecoms provider said it will help customers with a variety of tasks including moving data and applications into the cloud, meeting peaks in consumer demand via greater website reliability and providing a better hybrid working experience for employees.

The secure network combines software-defined wide-area network (SD-WAN) and software-defined branch (SD-Branch) via a secure firewall and networking equipment from Fortinet.

BT said it can manage the network for customers 24 hours per day, adding that the service will “prevent cyberattacks” and increase “visibility across the network”.

“At BT, we know that complex network requirements shouldn’t mean compromising on security or flexibility,” said Ashish Gupta, MD corporate and public sector at BT.

He added: “Our new collaboration with Fortinet on software-defined Branch networks shows that you can combine both – enabling reliable, secure connectivity within and across multiple sites, all safely managed by BT.”
