Artist launches celebrity NFTs

New artist L.A. Migiotto has teamed up with virtual reality platform Terra Virtua to drop a collection of 11 previously unseen celebrity images into NFT artwork.

The exclusive NFT artworks feature famous faces including David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Beyonce, Madonna, Iggy Pop, Amy Winehouse, Mariah Carey, Bono, Elton John, Britney Spears, and Jay-Z, which will be auctioned at an online event.

An NFT is a unit of data stored on a digital ledger - or a blockchain - that certifies the uniqueness of a digital asset.

NFT art is becoming increasingly popular and is proving to be a very lucrative market. In March, art auction house Christie’s auctioned a digital collage by an artist called Beeple for $69 million, the third-highest auction price for a living artist.

“This is an incredibly exciting partnership for us,” said Gary Bracey, chief executive, Terra Virtua. “Our partnership with Lyons Gallery to launch such an innovative new artist, L.A, Migiotto, is a great platform for us to showcase the breadth and quality of Terra Virtua’s digital collectibles and the incredible curated artwork that we’re building on the platform.”
