App partners with retailers to reward teenagers for exercise

A father and son team have launched a new app which encourages teenagers to get active.

StepStack allows users to keep track of their health, monitor their physical activity and earn digital coins which can be donated to charity or as used as currency in a digital marketplace.

The app also allows users to take part in challenges, invite friends, and share their progress.

Stepstack has partnered with several retailers for the rewards including Boots, Selfridges, and Timberland. It has also partnered with charities including the Trussell Trust and the Teenager Cancer Trust.

Teenager Eddie Moran came up with the idea when he found he spent more time on technology than activities outdoors. He believed technology can be part of the solution instead of the problem.

Commenting on the news his father and co-founder David Moran said: "I want my kids to be more active, get outside more, and make a difference. That's why we built StepStack."
