Amazon appoints new CFO for cloud services

Amazon has appointed John Felton as chief financial officer at Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Felton as worked at Amazon for over 19 years, spending 12 of them within operations where he focussed on improving delivery speeds.

In his new role Felton will report to Amazon chief financial officer Brian Olsavsky.

Udit Madan will take on Felton’s role leading worldwide operations. Madan has spent over 15 years working at Amazon, most recently leading global delivery services.

In a message to employees at Amazon about the new appointments Doug Herrington, chief executive of Worldwide Amazon Stores, wrote: “I have loved spending time in many of our Operations sites over the past 18 months, and am energised by the work happening across operations and the entire stores organisation. I am incredibly excited about what 2024 has in store for our team and the continued improvements in customer experience that we will deliver together.”

In December, Amazon announced it was expanding its shipping network to include over 300 sea routes across Europe.

The company said it has partnered with firms such as shipping and logistics firm DFDS to provide fast and sustainable shipping for over 460,000 UK small and medium enterprises to ship their goods to the EU.
