Uber suspends self-driving car tests

Uber’s tests with self-driving cars resulted in a fatal accident, and the company has suspended all tests in the aftermath. A woman was hit by a car and killed in Arizona – the first death caused by an autonomous car.

The victim was crossing the road, but not pedestrian crossing, according to police. Although it is true that accidents involving pedestrians and cars are all to frequent, the incident will cause a pause in the development race between various manufacturers and service organisations.

Uber started testing autonomous driving in 2016, and in 2017 Uber suspended testing for the first time following an accident that left a Volvo rolled on its side.
